Saigon Vietnamese Sizzling Crepe

Vietnamese Sizzling Crepe

I’ve had many people tell me they that they go to Saigon Noodles to get a bowl of pho, which is reasonable. But I’ve gone multiple times for a few other traditional dishes they got going on outside of the noodle soup. The Asian crepe is my all time fav, no matter who makes it and where I go, it’s always satisfying. And Saigon’s Vietnamese Sizzling Crepe is one of the top best I’ve had! Put aside the utensils, you eat this with you hands. Click here to learn how. You’ll find this dish is under their Weekend Special (Saturday and Sunday only), so plan accordingly if you want to check out this dish.

Here’s another dish you don’t typically find. It’s steamed pork wrapped in rice crepe. Rice crepe is another one those dishes I gotta get. For those with texture sensitivity, be careful trying this. The rice crepe is really squishy and moist and can be chewy and stretchy. I recommend using a fork for this for sure. It comes with a dipping sauce that tops it all off for you.

Saigon Vietnamese Papaya Salad

Vietnamese Papaya Salad

I tried ordering the papaya salad with medium spiciness, which I was told later by the cook, who personally came out and told me himself [thought that was strange], but I learned that they “cannot” make it spicy, but can provide heat on the side so I can add myself. They said their dish is a traditional dish and that making it spicy will make it non-Vietnamese. Okay. I respect they don’t want to modify ingredients to keep authentic, but at the end of the day, I probably would not have ordered it again, not because of the weird reasoning as to why they can’t make it spicy, but I wanted the papaya salad to be more juicy, more acidic and sweet. Maybe the Vietnamese papaya salad isn’t for me.

They also have dry noodle dishes. You can select egg or rice noodles.

Their spring rolls and egg rolls are delicious serve with veggies. (Sorry, no pics of spring rolls – I jumped right in).

Overall, their dishes are pretty good. You may have been for their pho, but I really recommend you try the crepe dishes for an authentic and unique experience.
